Ninin ga shinobuden is a manga adaptaion orginally written by  Ryoichi Koga.

A loud, brash and outright outrageous anime. I’ll give it a gold. Its animation style is bright, bold and also cartoon like. Full of gags and excellently done. And the story! Its not big, its a simple premise but ones which works excellently for the 12 episode series.Plus its got a perverted no humanoid as its mascot.

ninja nonsense

So what is the plot of this anime. Its basically about the normal girl, who accidently becomes friends with a female ninja in training and the antics that brings. Notably that Shinobu lives with basically a frat house full of ninjas, perverted and stupid antics included, and the master of this place is a perverted magic yellow ball. The ninjas themselves serve as both comedy relieve and plot devices. Often appearing when least wanted. While though out the anime they all look the same there are a couple of names which get repeated. There main thing is they are basically a bunch of hyped up young men who aren’t the smartest in the world, but follow the word of their master.

What to say about the  yellow ball which is Onsokumou? He’s an perverted idoit. He’s appearance is never really explained though at the beginning of the anime they try to exclaim he is a hawk. He claims to be the master of ninjas but it doesn’t really show any skills to back it up. He is in love with himself and also with Shinobu. And any other pretty girl. He’s a jerk, a liar and causes many of the problems. And is hilarious. It spends much of the anime getting beat up for his actions.

In summary. Good anime, very funny and keeps your attention. Silver 🙂

Shakugan no Shana Review

Shakugan no Shana is a light novel adaptation written by Yashichiro Takahashi.
An example of the fact that even if an anime manages to get three seasons and a movie, that doesn’t necessarily mean its any good.

Its not that this was a bad anime. But Shakugan no Shana failed to leave much of a lasting impression on me. Its just your standard action story. Normal boy turns out of have potential and girl comes along to use that potential. Girl who is powerful and oh, falls in love with boy. Visually Shakugan no Shana is impressive. The colours are wonderful and the magic is done excellently. Lots of really cool effects and unique designs. Not just character designs but world designs as well.

So what was the problem? This anime had some fairly cool plot ideas that had a lot of potential. Shana is a demon hunter whose job is to fight demon-like beings that consume human lives. Shana is a fiery girl who seems cold on the outside but as the series progress Yuji’s influence on her lets her makes friends and grow as a person.  In order to reduce the damage done by demons, those who die are turned into shadows of their former selves. Once the flame within them that represents their remaining life goes out, they fade from existence. This should have been Yuji’s fate too, but when he discovers he holds a special power that reignites his flame. Together they join forces in her ongoing mission to maintain the balance between the ordinary world and the supernatural. Making friends and enemies along the way.

I just remember liking the series but it didn’t have as effect on me as others have. Shana having the potential to use her powers to the fullest without dying and learning out to live in the ordinary world are all key points of this anime. Shana lived separate from them for so long, she struggles to understand how things work in his world. Plus she’s a tsundere. Which may be a factor against this anime, I’m not really a tsundere fan. Shana is contracted to a being known as Alastor, whos power fuels her blade. Alastor serves as her father figure and is an interesting character in his own right.

Basically. Bronze. Give it a go if you want, but its not something I plan on re-watching or even recommending to people. I guess the best way to describe Shakugan no Shana is dull. An anime which replied too much on special effects and didn’t spent enough time making a decent plot. shakugannoshana
