La Corda D’Oro is a video game adaptation developed by Koei.

I had almost forgotten this anime classes as the genre as the likes of Kamagami no Asobi and Amnesia. A collection of boys all trying the gain the heart of one girl, Hino. Why? Because I watched this early on before I was aware of this genre being a thing. La Corda D’Oro is a fantastic anime and one which I personally was very touched by.

Hino is a normal student at a elite school where the school body is spilt into the two sections. The normal students and the music students. A collection of gifted students who focus their attention on perfecting their music.   Every year, the school has a music competition. On day Hino bumps into the school fairy Lili. Lili decides that Hino has talent and want her to take part in the competition. Because she can’t actually play any instruments, he grants her a music violin which allows her to play any tune from her heart.

corda-d-oro.jpgShe doesn’t actually want to play at first. But Lili is determined and after listening to everyone else play she decides to take part. As the series  goes on, Hino is amazed by the magic of the violin and as the competition goes on, she becomes more and more attached to the people she is playing with. While all the boys are love interests, there are more who have more of a role than others. Personally my favourite boy is Ryotaro. Ryotaro is in the normal section, head of the soccer team and also Hino’s best friend. When Hino’s accompanist for the first round quits on her, Ryotaro plays for her, surprising everyone with the fact he can actually play! Which leads to him playing in the competition as well.

This anime is shoujo. Hino is outspoken and stubborn. She says her mind and isn’t afraid of any of the boys. Even the cold rich boys who like scaring/threatening her. Hino’s still a girly girl, and she is still very dramatic. The drama whipping up even more with the music. The music is beautiful and dynamic. They picked their songs well for this anime. Ava Maria plays an important part in this as we watch Hino grow and change. As well as watch her change the lives of her friends though the magic she plays.

Hino is a fantastic character and is one of my favourite shoujo girls. This anime is Platinum to me. I realise some will disagree but this anime was beautiful to me and made me wish I could play the violin.
