Ai Yori Aoshi is a manga adaptation originally written by Kou Fumizuki

This anime is not one I remember much to at all, which makes my rating low anyway. I remembered it was about a normal guy who suddenly gets a traditional Japanese wife/fiancée. I didn’t remember they were childhood friends. I also remembered this anime gave me a similar feeling to Chobits/dearS but pretty much nothing else. Oh! Also that he is estranged from his family and thinks this is a set up.

Don’t get me wrong, I properly should re-watch this before reviewing but considering how much I remember of other series I watched at the same time, it doesn’t really give me a good enough incentive to try again. It suggests to me that I didn’t really enjoy this anime, or well, I enjoyed it enough to complete it but not enough to retain much about the story. Give its age and its genre types, its not really the sort of program I would watch now. Maybe in summer I will give it another change but not for the moment.

Sorry any fans of this anime, and I do encourage people to watch it themselves due to my lack of memory but bronze.

Binbougami Ga! is a manga adaptation originally written by Yoshiaki Sukeno.

So this anime is tagged as Parody, though I’m not really sure what it is a parody of. There are a lot of really extreme characters. There are also a lot of references to other animes which are hilarious. A lot to dragonball, to many to others as well, including death note, which is shown below because it was brilliantly done. This anime is happy to make jokes out of itself. Binbou Gami Ga 1A basic summary of this anime is the fri-enemy-ship between a girl who has too much fortune and is a bit of a bitch, and a god of misfortune who has been sent to fix the imbalance. Ichiko is a girl blessed with having too much fortune. To many she seems untouchable and an angel. In reality she’s a arrogant bitch who loves getting her own way and doesn’t really care about other people. Though I do love her, I call her a bitch affectionately in this one. I love animes about girls who are not frail and this anime is it. All three of the female leads are not afraid to throw a punch or say something bluntly.

Ichiko had a bad childhood, a rich heiress whose parents had no time for her and her only real carer was her butler. This with the fact a lot of her friends used her as a child meant she struggles to make friends and only really uses people. So when Momoji crashes into her life, things being to get interesting.

Binbou Gami Ga 4

Momoji is a lazy god of misfortune. Not death. Misfortune. Her job to take the masses of fortune which Ichiko has a redistribute it to people who need it. Except who would want to go near that big ass needle? Not Ichiko, she avoids Momoji’s attempted to steal her fortune easily, occasionally letting it happen to safe people. During the rare moments when she is feeling sympathetic to other people. Not that she ever admits it. Ichiko and Momoji’s relationship is a strange one. They are pretty much best friends. Kind of. They insult each other and beat each other up but their is definitely a fondness there. A fondness between two bitches but it exists. Something which only grows as a third girl is added. The tomboy Rindou. Who was brought up pretty much as a boy by her father.Binbou Gami Ga 2

Momoji’s arrival means that Ichiko has to deal with a lot of madness which comes with her including a perverted black monk, and a m-type inugami. Plus a new friend at show shows up.Theses guys are only really in the show for comedy relieve but their appearances are well done and often the only real ecchi type scenes in the show. Despite the fansercive heavy opening and closing. Along with two classmates with their own problems, we watch as the two girls cause choas and try to defeat each other. While watching Ichiko grow slightly into a more well rounded person. She still has a sharp tongue but she slowly begins to understand other people due to accidents with Momoji’s plans.

I found this series awesome and I fully recommend it to anyone who like comedy programs! Gold.

Hataraku Maou Sama is a light novel adaptation written by Satoshi Wagahara.

I really enjoyed this anime. The art is pretty and the magic well animated. The character designs aren’t that unique or original and pretty much the standard model for a light novel adaptation. Which is a shame, because the story to this anime is really top notch. Sounds clique, is clique, works brilliantly. I definitely recommend this anime. Its hilarious and I love all the characters. All of them, including the minor characters.

We start our story in a magical world where demons are invading. The hero, and half angel, Emilia fights against Satan in order to save the world. Satan and his top general,  end up falling into a magic portal and sent to earth. It becomes clear pretty quickly that magic doesn’t work as well in Tokyo, and the two of them find a place to live and part time jobs before trying to find out more about the world they are in. Satan ends up working at a fictional version of McDonalds (McRonalds) and quickly becomes shift manager as he is very dedicated to his job. Much to the surprise of Emilia, now Yusa, who followed him only to suffer a similar fate of losing her magic and now works at a call centre. Hatagaya Maou San 4This series is fantastic. One of the main issues is that Satan isn’t really very evil. He’s actually quite caring and kind, and often uses the powers in gains from fear to help people or repair the damage done in battles. He’s work working, dedicated and a good friend. Which confuses the hell out of Emilia who has been taught he is evil and will use every excuse to cause pain and suffering. Heck even in their first meeting in the human world (Satan’s demon form is different due to the loss in magic), he gives her an umbrella because of the rain. They strike up a strange friendship, which revolves around her stalking him to make sure he stays good and him being kind to her. And yes they fall in love. But as I stated, this anime is very clique and it works.

Hatagaya Maou San 2

>What I also love about this series is that the big boobed girl, in this case Satan’s work colleague who has a massive crush, isn’t just there for ecchi purposes or fan service. She is an actual part of the story, either as a watcher to the events or as a damsel in distress. But she has a part to play and not the one her character type is normally given. All the characters are well portrayed in this and well developed. We even have Lucifer as a Hikikomori! Yes, i know technically Satan and Lucifer are the same according to Christian lore, but hey, its an anime. You have to take things with a pinch of salt.

Another thing to note is that the ‘church’ in this anime is corrupt and slightly in the grey as to how good or bad it is. There are signs of both as some of the higher ups are very corrupt. It would be interesting for a second season to learn about the world they came from and just how much of Satan’s reputation is the church covering things up. I may invest in the light novels if they have been translated into English. Or maybe in Japanese if I am brave enough.

I give this anime a gold. Maybe a little high for what its worth but personally I really enjoyed this.

6 Major Anime Series I Have Not Watched…

So maybe one day I will get to these animes but I have no plans to watch them at the moment but they are always in the lists of ‘must see’ anime. I just for various reasons haven’t gotten to them or am just not bothered. More than a few people will likely hate me for some of the list but it explains why my lists don’t always include major characters from famous series.

1. Naruto

In England, there was always a question during my generation of anime watchers. Naruto, One piece or Bleach. Rare did you find someone who said ‘all three’. Now bleach has stopped I’m sure the question has changed but I’m not sure what it will be now. Personally I was a bleach person not a Naruto person. I also liked One piece. But now Naruto is like what? 700 episode when you consider both series. I think its time has come and past for me now, I just don’t really have time to go watch it all. Potentially in summer I will attempt it but I don’t have high hopes. I have 200 episodes of One Piece to catch up on.

Not to say I disregard the series all together. I’m aware it has fantastic story lines and trust me, I am aware of some of them due to the overenthusiastic-ness of my friends (And for once not my roommate!). I tried it once and just didn’t get into it. That is all I can really say.

2. Full Metal Alchemist

Neither the first or second attempt at the series (brotherhood). I know for a lot of people it was their first anime but for whatever reason it just wasn’t on my radar when I started watching anime. I’m more likely to attempt to watch this than Naruto but again it won’t be until summer. Though looking at the dates, it looks like brotherhood started as I stopped watching new anime so I guess that would be a reason too.

3. Code Geass

No excuse. It was on the list but I just didn’t get to it. It is still on the list, but this time the one for Summer. Hopefully this time I will succeed. Likely will given my roommate’s prodding on the subject. Though not as much as for the bonus number.

4. Cowboy Bebop

I love Baccano. I have been told so many times to watch Cowboy Bebop. The King of the 90s anime. And yet, I have failed to do so. I tried once but I don’t think I had the maturity to actually enjoy Cowboy Bebop. Another one to try and at least attempt in summer.

5. Neon Genesis Evangelion

An old anime which like Cowboy Bebop is massively recommended and suggested to watch. However it just never interested me and in many ways still does not. We will see it I get to it one day but for now it’s unlikely.

6. Ghost in the Shell

Its on a lot of lists of Must watch and I used to see it on the TV guide but I was young and like Cowboy Bebop, I don’t think I had the maturity to watch this back then. Try in summer, me thinks. But honestly, I’m not that bothered if i fail to watch it.

Bonus:  Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan!)

Now this is a anime which by the sounds of it is causing waves in the latest generation of anime watchers. My roommate raves over it. I have actually been to a attack on titan exhibition with him. I know the entire story. Get this. Never watched on episode. Summer anime, I think. I will have to make a list… But yes. Shingeki no Kyojin is something I have no watched because I just am not that bothered. Plus with the amount of spoilers I have had, its a bit like Game of Thrones, I have no dying urge to watch this anime.

Ano Natsu de Matteru is an original anime series written by Yosuke Kuroda, with original character design by Taraku Uon.

In summary, a typical anime about the summer in high school, complete with trip to Okinawa and four triangles. With the twist of one of them is an alien and the fact they are decide to make a film over the summer.

Ano Natsu 1

This anime has a similar feeling to it as Anohana. Except not as good. admittedly though, Anohana is a tough one to beat though in this genre. Ano Natsu de Matteru is a enjoyable if typical drama. The male lead, Kaito is a typical lead with very little personality and his main trait being that he loves of filmmaking. He falls in love with a new student at his school. Ichika, an alien who is searching for a place in her memories and ends up living at his house. As you know, so many animes work. Kaito doesn’t quite live alone but to clear that end up his sister goes on a work trip for the summer to Boliva of all places so its just the two of them. And his friends when they come barging round.

Ano Natsu 3

I’m not going to lie, I spent most of this anime not really liking Ichika. She’s very bland. With even less to say about her than the male lead. Apart from the fact she goes beyond in love with him and almost to obsessive early one. Following him whenever she sees him with other people. Though she doesn’t seem to quite realise it at first. I find her tiresome and I’m not sure how much she actually adds to the story ignoring being an alien. Also I found my self taking Kanna’s side in the fight for Kaito’s heart. Ichiro just appears out of nowhere and steals it without giving Kanna a chance. But I guess that life. If it hadn’t been a alien, it would have been something else I think sadly.

Honestly the amount of time spend on the characters is enough. They are a pretty pathetic lot really. Massive love rectangle between the lot of them, with an added two girls for the okinawa episodes. I quite like the fact none of them end up with who they want though. More realistic that way. The character I wished we had learned more about was Remon/Lemon, though I realise this anime was the wrong genre for that.

Ano Natsu 2

Lemon is a young looking girl who is actually much older than she appears, though her actual age is never specified. She is introduced as Ichika’s classmate who for unknown reasons wears a different uniform to the rest of the school. It quickly becomes apparent she knows far more than she lets on. It is discovered eventually she works for the men in black but its an sideline. She is mostly in charge of filming the events which are going on. She is the most interesting one to me and I wish we had learnt more about her. Like why she was there in the first place? Does she spend every summer at that school or what?

As far as the other aspects of this anime goes, the action is so random and very clique in its reasoning. It does spice up the anime though. Otherwise its just a lot of tears as everyone is in love with someone who is in love with someone else. Part from the main pair. With some summer cheer as they have fun occasionally.

I give this anime a bronze. It was enjoyable but nothing special nor unique and I spent much of it disliking the main characters which always knocks a show down a few pegs.

Welcome to the NHK is a novel adaptation originally written Tatsuhiko Takimoto.

The closest thing I can compare this too is Catcher in the Rye. By no means do I think this is any where near as good but the themes are similar, if only with a Japanese twist in it. Watching a character which a serious social problem, spiral worse and worse. Sometimes getting better only to regress. The people around him struggling with there own problems. This anime is about the issues everyone faces and a bunch of people who learn to overcome them.

As you can tell, this anime is fairly deep at times. It has moments of funniest, moments of pervertedness, but at the heart, this anime is very realistic in how the world works. Some people leave school and swim easily. Others sink. The world can be very cruel and harsh at time but people learn how to get though it all. In many ways parts of this anime can be very sad. Dreams don’t always come true, as much as we would wish it otherwise.1388940823_6260

The main character is a hikikomori. Plain and simple. Satou Tatsuhiro is 22 years old and has dropped out of college. He is an example of a growing social problem in Japan of a NEET who never leaves his house and lives off his parents. However things can’t remain like this forever. Satou desperately wants to get a job and be normal but is terrified of doing so.

Like anything Satou’s mind spirals out of control, and he comes to the conclusion their is a conspiracy around him in order to keep him as a Hikikomori. The Nihon Hikikomori Kyoukai, aka the NHK. Or for those unable to speak Japanese ‘The Japan Hikkomori Association’. A company which does its best to keep hikikomori’s as such in order to give society something to laugh at. When things are going bad, the NHK are shown by purple creatures. If they show up, bad things are happening.Welcome to the NHK 1

This is a fairly important thing and not something too far from the truth. The idea of someone panicking to the point where conspiracies become real and they are obsessed there is one against them I mean. When people lock themselves away from the real world, it’s not that hard for them to become paranoid of the world outside. Our mind can’t really cope with being stagnant, which is why people are better off with some form of job. Its not just money, but giving ourselves a purpose. For a lot of people, all they really need is a purpose, or in the case of the Hikikomori, a kick to get started.

Part of the problem with being Hikikomori is that parents enable the consideration by continuing to pay for their children once they are adults. There is no need to go out because everything is always there. Obviously there are other factors but parents are often part of the problem and not the solution from what I have read and studied. This in itself is another key issue which is played out in Welcome to the NHK. As money becomes tighter, parents are less and less able to help their children out. Gone is Japanese golden age where such things were possible.I+was+expecting+you+to+reply+to+that+_e003715ba87218a4b4a96795140dd67d

So how will this particular NEET overcome being so? For reason unknown at first, a beautiful girl has taken interest in him. Misaki has chosen him for a project which will hopefully save him from being a Hikikomori. This girl crashing into his life with more effects than he could have foreseen. She is mystery and basically a stalker. Seriously, between Misaki watching him from her house on the hill to Sadou’s sempai and old crush almost getting him to commit suicide, I was very tempted to stop watching this anime. The themes just a little too twisted, but I persisted, given this anime has a very good reputation on the net.

Misaki grew on me, especially as it grew obviously she was as socially awkward as he was. She wasn’t just a girl out for kicks, though she does seemingly grow obsessed with him. At first I wondered if we were going to end up with a character with Yuno levels of obsession. However, it turned out to be less obsession and more a kind of dependence. Everyone has one friend right? Misaka’s friend is Sadou and she gets very worried when he goes off with other people without mentioning anything to him. On the other hand, she is the only one to check up on him and make sure he is still alive. Even feeding him when his allowance gets cut.Welcome to the NHK 2

As far as the animation style goes for this anime, its not beautiful or sleek. Its plain and drab. Honestly it just adds to the story. This is a real world story, despite the conspiracy, nothing particularly amazing happens. Ignoring the episodes when Sadou gets hooked on to online games on the hope of making money. The different between the virtual world and the real world are stark. Especially when you compare the bright colours of the computer world to the dim of the room Sadou is hiding in. All in all I give this anime a gold. It is an excellent anime with some pretty strong characters and themes.

Thoughts about Spring Anime

Thoughts about Spring Anime

We are about half way though the calender for the Spring animes and here are my currently feelings on them with as little spoilers about the plot as I can mange. So in Alphabetical Order…

69857Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (18/22)

Also known as Assassination Classroom, this anime started in the winter and has a live action move due in soon. It also has a second season already planned. Which I can understand.

Both my roommate and I love this program. From the opening to the stories. Kuro Sensei and the class are a fantastic bunch of characters and unlike a lot of class anime, it doesn’t attempt to stretch the characters out. We focus on different sets from time to time but we primarily focus on a small number of students, or on Kuro Sensei. They don’t try and force they student’s backstory down our throats, though they are there if we want them.

Currently I would give this series a gold. Despite the dark nature of what is going on, the show’s nature keeps its light hearted and very funny. I fully recommended. One thing I will say though, is the show is getting a little repetitive and I am wondering how they will manage a second season with this format without it becoming tiresome. Only time will tell.

Arslan-Senki-Subtitle-Indonesia

Arslan Senki (7/25)

Arslan Senki is an adaptation from a famous Japanese fantasy epic novel. This is the latest adaptation of the story into anime form, drawn by the artist of Full Metal Alchemist. Now let me repeat, this is a epic fantasy novel adaptation. Its not a light hearted thing. The first episode is fairly warm and cute but once the Prince grows up, well thing quickly become serious and for the most stay that way. As someone who loves reading fantasy epics, I love this anime. It stays true to the form it is from and doesn’t try to ruin the novel by putting fan-service or comedy scenes that don’t really fit the story. If you are going to make a serious tale, keep it serious.

I won’t deny though that my roommate struggles to watch this as he is used to more light-heartiness even in animes such as danganrompa and K. Perhaps soon there will be scenes now the things have set rolling. My main warning for people considering this is that  the issues and plots lines in this are dark and deep. As they should be given what is going on, but this is certainly not an anime for people who are watching for boobs and cheap comedy sketches.

For me its currently a Gold, for my roommate properly more a bronze/stone.

download (5)Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (7/13)

Also know as ‘Is it okay to pick up girls in dungeons?’

Now my roommate and I both approached this anime with a touch of caution. The name suggesting that it was going to be about a fairly perverted anime guy and his harem of girls. Because lets face it, with a title like that, you can’t expect much from the characters. Except Bell is far from perverted. Surrounded by girls, yes. However I was expecting someone like Sora from No Game No Life. What I got was someone who is almost the complete opposite.

Bell is charming. He is not quite innocent, he is a teenage boy but he is naive and good hearted. The sort who is easy picking for scams and for bad or worse, does not have a bone in his body to hold a grudge. Bell is a fantastic character to watch. My main issue with the show? I hate the goddess and main female lead. She is frustrating and I just want to punch her at time. Why? Why? WHY! She is pathetic and I find her parts of the story more tiresome than anything else. Both me and my roommate are only still watching this show because Bell is awesome and are slightly worried about how this is going to pan out. So Silver. Goddess ruins it.
rinne2Kyoukai no Rinne (6/25)

A surprising good shounen romance comedy. As far as romances go, I was surprised when I started this how many shounen romance I have watched and enjoyed a lot. Some of my favourite romances are shounen. When they decide not make them ecchi. Where as I tend to find shoujo’s enjoyable but nothing special. But this shounen is excellent. The interactions between the two characters are well written and I love the supernatural element to it. As you can properly tell, I love magic and the supernatural so this story is right up my alley.

I love how calm and unnerved the led girl, Sakura is. Something weird happens and she is just like ‘Ok then. Next please. Do you need a hand?’ She is completely unfazed by things and the male led, Rinne is also a very fun character. With a host of characters, this romance is fun and cute. Not really focusing on the romance and more of the chaos which goes on around them. Silver currently, maybe even gold depending on how this plays out.

World Trigger (31/50) 2b00d7ed0ca0084eaa73416e2ee5eb5f1412626835_full

Every now and again there are anime which look like they could become the next big thing. World Trigger was one of these animes and to be fair, could still become really big. However to me it has been a massive disappointment and I don’t read the manga. I would be interested to discover how the manga fans feel about this adaptation.

The story is good and has real potential. But the show shot itself in the foot for me when we spent ten or so episodes on characters we had met for 30 seconds or so on previous ones, instead of the main characters. The action is good all 2 minutes of it before the explanations start.

This anime spends far too much time giving recap and explanations to enjoy the story. And the opening! One the song doesn’t fit to me, and two, its normally halfway though the episode! Frankly this anime is becoming more and more of a chore to watch instead of enjoyment but at 31 episodes in, I feel like I can’t stop or I have wasted by time. So currently bronze, possible a silver. And yet another failed chance to have a new anime wonder.

So what are you all watching this spring? And what would you recommend from the line-up? I’m looking forward to watching the lastest vampire anime Owari no Seraph but I haven’t heard much of the others yet.

Sola was a mixed media project which had a manga as a proluge to the anime. It was written by Naoki Hisaya designs by Naru Nanao.

Sola is your fairly typical 13 episode anime. Its nothing special but is an enjoyable anime to watch. The music is special and the story draws you in. The character designs are fair and the characters themselves have some pretty solid back stories. Including an excellent twist. The story moves at a good pace, though as it has been a while, I only remember enjoying the anime and the basic plot.

Our main boyo is a high school called Yorito Morimiya. Yorito’s main hobby is taking pictures of the sky, and spends much of this time doing so. In annoyance to his friend. Yorito has a sister who is in hospital and as such lives on his own. His sister is a fairly cold individual who gets very possessive when Yorito does things which do not include her. She doesn’t actually approve of him taking pictures of the sky either. Seeing as she spends much of the time with the curtains closed due to having been born sickly. Sola 2

One night, Yorito mets a mysterious young woman who is struggling to get tomato juice out of a venting machine. She disappears before he can learn her name though. The next day they met again and Yorito discovers the girls name is Matsuri Shihou. She lives at a church and the next time we met her she is in the middle of a fight with a man trying to kill her. Matsuri is not human but a ‘Yaka’. A yaka is efficiently a ghost. Someone who has dead but it still there. They are powerful but can’t walk in sunlight. They are formed by sorrow and agony, meaning the are doomed to walk the earth alone. Except Yorito and Matsuri fall in love over the course of the series. Matsuri living at Yorito’s to avoid being killed.

Sola 1

The story is sweet and has some very touching moments in. I remember really enjoying this anime and it was beautiful. The colour palettes are well chosen. I can’t say the characters are very special but the story itself is well written and has a lot of twists which you don’t expect. So bronze. Its entertaining to watch but has nothing particularly special about it.

Beelzebub is a manga adaptation written by Ryuuhei Tamura.

If pikachu was a naked demon baby… and Ash was a delinquent… Ok no, this anime isn’t anything like pokemon but Beelzebub does love to electric shock Oga as much as Pikachu does Ash at the beginning. This anime is a brilliant its just a shame it ruined itself by having so many fillers and rushing the ending. Honestly, I have no idea what happened! We had like 10 episodes of just filler material and then poof, a finale in like 3 episodes which could have been spread over those 10 episodes and made considerably better. Why? Did the manga run out? Did the author not tell you the plan? Did you think you would be getting a second season and then discover it wasn’t happening anymore? What happened?

Beelzebub 01

Beelzebub is the tale of a high school delinquent who though certain events ends up raising the son of the devil in order to destroy humanity. Oga is no normal delinquent though, he is a delinquent at the worst school in Japan! where they are 120% delinquents and also extremely dumb. Due to his evil nature, Beelzebub decides he likes Oga and makes a bond with him. The side effect of the bond being that Oga can never be more than 15 metres away from him without getting an electric shock. Also if Beezlebub cries or gets upsets, he electrifies everyone in a certain radius. The bonus thing being that he can use Beelzebub’s power from time to time to increase his own attacks.

Beelzebub 03Oga is your typical delinquent. Not too bright and uses his fists before his brains. The first half of the series is dedicated to Oga defeating every delinquent in his school in order to find someone stronger than himself. Not to mention having to deal with all the problems which come with raising a demon child with powers who likes to cause chaos. Seriously if Beelzebub gets bored, bad things start happening.Beelzebub 02

Luckily for Oga, help is at hand for all the Beezlebub related problems. Notably from Beezlebubs demon maid, Helda. A fierce demon who has no qualms with beating up Oga or his best friend if they aren’t doing their jobs properly. She is also fiercely devoted to raising Beezlebub in the correct demon manner. Helda is a fantastic character, if not a little dense from time to time. But considering what she has to work with, its not surprising. Oga is frustrating to say the least.

Beelzebub 05This anime possibly by favourite fix for lack of plot ever! So once Oga has defeated everyone in the school and is known as Ishiyama’s strongest, what next? Well Oga in the last fight destroys the school. In order to combat this all the students get divided into groups and have to go to other schools. Oga and his best friends end up at St Ishiyama Academy, an elite school where they are confined to a special class for the Ishiyama students. Which just so happens to have the people they defeated in it. After that the plot is mostly don’t get expelled and to defeat the demons who are trying to kill them so Beezlebub’s brother can destroy humanity first. Lord En is cute but his servants are annoying.

maxresdefault

So I give this anime a silver. Its outstanding and has a lot of laughs in it. The characters are brilliant and this anime doesn’t bother trying to give them deep background stories. They are just delinquents. A little extreme and very crazy delinquents, but delinquents none the less. This animes takes the cliques and runs with them.

Inu X Boku SS is a Manga Adaptation, orginally written by  Cocoa Fujiwara.

Honestly, I’m not sure what happened with this show. Given the manga, it had the potential to be the next fruits basket with a cast of interesting and well developed characters and relationships. But the anime just does not measure up at all. The manga ran from 2009 to 2014, so while it was made before the manga was finished, there was still a good portion of the manga written in order to make this a good show. Its only 12 episodes after all. Maybe they were hoping for a second season but Inu x Boku SS was a fairly mundane and uninteresting anime. Entertainment at the minimum, all the jokes and potential there but not quite carried off.

We have a show about rich demon descendants who live in a apartment with their bodyguards and all the antics that brings. A girl named Ririchiyo Shirakiin moves into the Ayakashikan hoping for some peace and quiet. Instead, she finds herself with the service of the Secret Service agent, Sōshi Miketsukami who loves her very very much. Seriously Miketsukami is like a puppy when it comes to Ririchiyo. Willing to do anything to stay by her side. But it gets a little tiresome to be honest. Actually that word pretty much sums up how I feel about a lot of the characters ‘tiresome’. All their indivudual character gags are played so much and so little development the comedy fast becomes yawn worthy. Its not surprising only one season was made.

This anime just doesn’t seem to want to know what it is. Its got supernatural creatures who can fight, trying to live fairly normal lives with all the normal things that happen in a dysfunctional family. However it just is boring. The fights aren’t interesting and have no real purpose the majority of the time. Other than to declare, ‘hey remember we have powers! look at us!’. And the ‘normal’ everyday stuff often feels out of place. Like its not normal. Not even for them. Something is missing. I just can’t put my finger on it, other that a lot of the elements in this anime as lacking in entertainment value. It tries to be dark and funny at the same time and just doesn’t pull it off.  It’s not good enough to just give characters issues and throw in some gags for entertainment.

So. Bronze. It had all the ingredients were there but failed to make anything particularly good. Just your standard pretty show.302975-aliya06
